Climber’s House 2

Year: 2022

Type: House

Location:

Area: 292 m²

This project was conceived as the second idea of a house series for climbers. The second house was thought of as a low house, not as high as the first house. The environment itself was set to have a wide land in the outskirts or countryside rather than a city, and since it's a low house, I assumed it would be a house for bouldering rather than lead climbing. What I am thinking of as a design motif for this house is Kim Ja-in's yellow ribbon. (Kim Ja-in is a Korean professional climber who has won many international climbing competitions) She always participated in the games wearing a yellow ribbon to commemorate the Sewol Ferry students, and that was a great impression. The basic idea of the design is that the angle of the sloping climbing wall gradually changes so that the overall shape of the long wall becomes like a ribbon. As this process shapes a house in which the climbing walls and the elements of the house are totally integrated, it creates a unique space.
